Greenery is the Pantone’s Choice for 2017

Ever year the Pantone Color Institute, the ‘global color authority”, selects a color of the year that reflects what is taking place in the world.   They claim their choice goes way beyond an aesthetic color to shake up the new year, but rather is a color that represents the mood and feeling of the people.  2016 had been a tumultuous political year, and there is a yearning to de-stress, refresh, rejuvenate and renew!

Welcome Greenery, a glorious shade of “tangy yellow green” that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. We are not fashion conscious, and we depend on our wives to guide us in our clothing purchases.  But it did perk our interest when we heard Greenery was Pantone’s Color of the Year.

Watch for the shade of ‘greenery’ show up in clothing, home furnishings, and yes, even the automobile industry.

What Greenery Means to Us

  • Greenery is often seen in foliage.  While our daily lives may generate stress, the outdoors can be a source of both healing and inspiration.  Spending time outdoors has wonderful benefits for our minds and bodies. This basic need to connect with nature is what fuels our passion for our work and our desire to design your perfect outdoor living space surrounded by lots of foliage.
  • Foliage found in the great outdoors signals one to slow down, take a deep breath and enjoy nature.  When the blustery cold winter ends and signs of spring emerge, the early green shades appear, signaling new life.  This shade of Greenery emits energy.

Golden Princess is a compact deciduous shrub that is dense, upright and typically grows in a mound 2-3’ tall and 3-4’ wide.  Foliage turns attractive shades of red and bronze in fall.  It likes full sun and flowers in late spring to mid-summer and is attractive to butterflies.

Chardonnay Pearls Deutzia is easily grown in average, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade.  Best flowering is in full sun.  It’s a dense, rounded, deciduous shrub that typically grows 2-4’ and as wide.

Hakonechloa macra Hakone Grass is a very beautiful perennial shade loving grass forming a cascading mound of gracefully arching, bright, rich-green leaves that ripple in the breeze.
