Making the decision to have a large landscape project done at your home is an exciting undertaking.   But first you need to decide on the right landscaping company that has the expertise in handling your project and who keeps you informed during all the stages.   It’s advantageous to choose a design build company that has an established process to ensure a successful project.

Why a Design Build Company?

A design-build company provides a single source for quality, cost, and scheduling.   A design-build landscaping company, like Whitehouse Landscaping, has the capability of not only designing your new landscaping project, but also installing it.  This concept works well with homeowners with large and small landscaping projects.  Read more Benefits of Using  a Design-Build Landscaping Company for Your Project.

How Does the Design-Build Process Work?

Our nine-step process below explains how we manage and complete projects to ensure that you’re happy throughout the project and thrilled with the results.  We developed and perfected our process so that your landscaping project is a hassle free experience for you.

1. Initial Phone Call

The process begins with a phone call to discuss the project. We will discuss details such as the project location, the type of work to be done, whether or not a design might be required or if a free quote is all that might be needed.

2. On-site Meeting

This initial meeting is free of charge. At this first meeting we will listen to your ideas about the project and make some suggestions. The next step is to discuss the investment the homeowner is looking to make for the project. This is an important step because it helps us create a plan / estimate that will work for you. If you are unsure where to start regarding the costs of the project, we can help you in this area. We will also discuss whether the project will require design work. Different levels of design can be utilized to meet the homeowner’s needs and budgets. See “Design Options” page.

3. Design/Budgetary Estimate

If your project requires a design then a design estimate will be sent following the initial meeting. Upon approval your design will be added to our design schedule. Turnaround times will vary depending on the scope of your project and our design backlog at the time of approval. Average timeframes are usually 1 to 4 weeks. If the project does not require a design, then a budgetary estimate will be sent. We will email you your design and / or budgetary estimate as they are ready.

4. Project Scheduling

Upon approval of an estimate and a project deposit being made the project will be added to our job list. Once all the details of the project are finalized the project will be moved to our project scheduling calendar. Projects will be added to the calendar only when all details are finalized.

5. Project Portal

At this time, if your project qualifies, we will send you an invite to sign up to our project portal. All communication is done through the portal from this point moving forward.

6. Project Details Meeting  (Designer/Homemaker)

This meeting can be done over the phone or in person depending on the project. In this meeting we will finalize the details of the project.

7. Pre-Installation Project Meeting  (Designer/Project Coordinator/Homeowner)

At this meeting you will meet with the Designer and the Project Coordinator for your project. We will go over the project in detail together and we can answer any questions the homeowner may have.

8. Installation

Once the project has started the Project Coordinator is the main point of contact for any construction questions. Project updates will be made by the Project Coordinator through the project portal. The homeowner may contact the designer at any point with any questions throughout the installation.

9. Final Walkthrough

Once the installation is completed a final walkthrough with the designer and the homeowner will be scheduled. If any items need to be addressed a punch list will be created and resolved in a timely matter.
